My latest creative task is to invite you into the busy Wolf and Willow workshop to see a work in progress. Right now, I'm making some Candy Cottontail bunny pillows for Easter AND a free pattern for you to download! Yay!
I quite fancied using some pretty pink and yellow fabrics for this project. I've been saving them up in my fabric stash for a while now, but I think Easter is the perfect occasion. I checked my sewing kit for matching threads and buttons...
Using my nifty new measuring tape, I measured out my pillow tops and marked them up with white tailor's chalk. And with my mum's high school sewing scissors, which are still in perfect nick since the swinging sixties, I cut them out; two at a time. Don't they look like cotton candy?
As the afternoon light came streaming into the workshop, I traced bunny shapes onto light fusible web and ironed them onto some patterned fabric scraps. These patterns are 1930's reproduction prints, I think. You might recognise the lavender, mint and tangerine fabric from Petunia Pony?
And here are my cut-out applique shapes. Ta da! What do you think? When I was five, I played a bunny in my pre-school Easter pageant. I remember hopping around with my cotton wool tail and wriggling my nose dramatically... it was pretty fun, just like making pillows!
